Academics

A rigorous, industry-aligned academic framework that turns learners into leaders.

A Curriculum Built Around The Industry

The IHMT academic framework follows the Choice Based Credit System (CBCS) with outcome-based learning, continuous internal assessment (CIA) and practical-heavy evaluation. Theory and practicals are balanced 40:60 across hotel operations, management sciences and liberal electives.

Every semester embeds at least one live-industry touchpoint — a training module, a live event, an industrial visit or a guest lecture from an active hotelier.

  • CBCS credit structure with 180+ credits for UG
  • 60% weightage to practical / hands-on evaluation
  • Choice-based electives & open electives
  • Annual industry curriculum review board

Minimum 75% attendance is mandatory to appear for university examinations. Medical leave up to 10% is condoned with valid documentation. Practical sessions carry 100% attendance requirement in core labs.

Examinations follow the semester pattern with CIA (40%) and term-end (60%). Malpractice attracts disqualification from that paper. Revaluation requests are accepted within 15 days of results.

Absolute grading on a 10-point CGPA scale: O (10) = 90-100, A+ (9) = 80-89, A (8) = 70-79, B+ (7) = 60-69, B (6) = 50-59, C (5) = 40-49, F = below 40. A minimum CGPA of 5.0 is required to clear a semester.

Plagiarism beyond 15% in submitted work leads to grade penalisation; repeat offences may lead to suspension. All project work is checked through plagiarism software.

Merit scholarships are renewed every semester subject to a CGPA of 8.0+. Sports and need-based scholarships are reviewed annually by the scholarship committee.
